Social Media is a Disease

This week I watched a variety of TED talks that surrounded the topic of social media. The one that really stood out to me was about the harms and negative effects of social media on our bodies and mental health, it was called W hy you should quit social media, performed by computer scientist Cal Newport. Newport is someone who has admitted to never having a social media account. This statement was eye-opening to me because "Social media usage is one of the most popular online activities in 2019, 79% of the population in the United States had a social networking profile (Clement.)" This means Newport is a part of the 21% of Americans who don’t. You could also infer from this information that Newport is a little bias because he is not a social media user himself. Futuristic Technology

     Recently, I read the blog post A Cloudy Crystal Ball, which focused on the future of technology. The main idea of the post was to share how in the past it has been difficult to predict the future, and the source provided key examples of this. This was very interesting to me because I don't commonly think deeply about the future. My interest grew stronger, and I began doing some research on some of the possible future technology products.      Technology plays a huge role in our everyday lives. As you know, technology is always advancing, and people are inventing something new every day. It’s crazy to learn about the technology that is predicted to be released in the near future.
